についてMerzouga

Merzouga is a small Saharan village on the edge of the Erg Chebbi, a sea of sand dunes that rise to 150 metres and stretch along Morocco's border with Algeria. It lies approximately 550 km southeast of Marrakech and represents the classic Moroccan Sahara experience — golden dunes glowing orange at sunset, camel caravans silhouetted against the horizon, and nights of absolute silence under a sky blazing with stars. For many travellers, the dunes of Erg Chebbi are the highlight of their entire Morocco trip.

The area around Merzouga is rich with experiences beyond the dunes: the rose-coloured saltpan of Dayet Srji, an ancient lake bed that attracts flamingos in spring; the Khamlia village, home to descendants of West African nomads who maintain the Gnaoua musical tradition; and the oasis palmeries of Erfoud and Rissani, where Morocco's most authentic date market takes place.

KechGo offers private multi-day transfer packages from Marrakech to Merzouga, with the journey typically broken into two days to allow stops at Dades Gorge, Todra Gorge, and the kasbahs of the Rose Valley. The route via the Draa Valley and Dadès is considered one of the great road trips in the world.

の旅のヒントMerzouga

  • Arrive in Merzouga in the afternoon so you can take the sunset camel trek before dark — this is the iconic experience
  • Bring a shemagh (headscarf) or buff — wind-blown sand is constant and face and neck cover is essential
  • Sleeping in a desert camp overnight is strongly recommended; the dawn dune walk and sunrise are unforgettable
  • Quad bikes across the dunes are popular but noisy — camel rides at sunrise or sunset are a more atmospheric alternative
  • The drive from Marrakech via the Draa Valley is an experience in itself — consider taking 2 days each way for the full journey
